Fixing Broken Souls : A Swasan Fanfic. (Chapter 19)

Chapter 19

~~Deep Trouble♥♥ ~~

Swara’s POV ~

I paced around the room restlessly. Sanskar sat on the couch, scrolling through his phone. I glanced at the watch which showed an awkward timing of 11 pm. Ragini wasn’t home yet. Neither was Laksh.

It was around 6:30 pm, when I had called her first. But she hadn’t answered. I called her again and again and again, but each time, my call went unanswered. Even Laksh wasn’t responding. I knew they had left together to go somewhere.

Seeing me worried sick, Sanskar approached me. It had been an hour, of him trying to calm me down, but all his efforts had gone in vain. Finally, tired he plopped down on the couch.

“Will you relax? They’ll come back.” He said, for what seemed like a hundredth time.

“She’s just twenty! Its eleven and God knows where she is.” I snapped. He sighed.

“Swara, try to give her some space. She’s not a baby anymore. Besides, you said she went out with Laksh. Them why are you worrying when he’s with her?” He asked. He was right in a way. But c’mon! Ragini was my sister. I was ought to be worried.

I kept on pacing on around as Sanskar finally came and stood in front of me. He snatched my phone away and tossed it on the bed. His hands rested on my shoulders as he asked me to focus on him.

“I’ve never seen you worrying about such little things.” He chuckled. Was this funny? No.

I rolled my eyes. “That’s not funny. She doesn’t even know her way around in this city. On top of that, she’s just a kid roaming around at this time.” I said.

“But she’s also not alone na. Are you sure, Laksh went with her?” He asked. I nodded.
“Toh bas. There is nothing to worry about. And I think, Ragini will be taking care of him, rather than him taking care of her.” He added. I laughed at the last part. That was true, though.

I sat opposite him on the couch. “By the way have you seen Shaurya? He’s also missing since noon. God knows what’s wrong with these people.” I said.

“I have no idea.” Sanskar replied. Just the we heard a little knock on the door. A head popped in from the little gap. It was Shaurya. He entered with a bright smile on his face. He greeted Sanskar and proceeded towards me.

“Kaha mar gaye the?” I asked, stopping him midway from hugging me. He scratched the back of his head.

“I was with a client. He was in Udaipur for some meeting, so I thought of dropping him by his hotel to meet him.” He said. Him and his clients. . .the list of them seemed never ending. Sometimes I pitied him cause he worked so hard. He barely got time for other things.

“Oh okay…” I replied. Just then, I heard another knock on the door. Laksh stood outside with a slight smile on his lips. Ragini was right behind him. The moment I saw them, I felt relief wash over me. I ran over to Ragini and engulfed her in my arms.

“Oh God. I was so worried. Where the hell were you?” I asked, taking her in along with me.

“I was uh – with Laksh.” She replied awkwardly, looking at everyone in the room. Laksh assured me that they were together. I sighed with relief. But something seemed different about Ragini that night.

“Thank God, you guys came. Swara literally ate my mind with her never ending questions. Where were you both anyway?” Sanskar asked. Ragini and Laksh looked at each other and then past me, at Shaurya. Both their faces went pale as they eyed him with an unreadable expression.

“Are you okay?” I asked Ragini. She snapped out and nodded her head. I could sense that, these two were definitely hiding something from me. But what? I made a mental note to talk to either of them later.

“Anyway, it’s late. I should sleep now. Goodnight guys.” Shaurya said. He stretched his arms in the air and wrapped them around me.
“Goodnight, jaan.” He whispered in my ear and walked away. I couldn’t help but notice the disgusted look Laksh gave him ad he walked away.

Shaurya headed out, closing the doors behind him. I folded my arms across my chest, eying the two most guilty looking people in front of me.
“What did you do?” I asked.

Ragini snapped up her head. “W – what did we do?” She stuttered.

“You both look guilty as if you’ve just killed somebody. What did you do?” I asked, raising my voice at the two. Laksh let out a deep sigh and looked at Sanskar for help.

“Swara, just leave it yaar. Its late. Lets go to sleep.” Sanskar said. Great. Now he was siding them too.

“What do you mean by leave it? You both. Answer me. Now. Where the hell were you? And why would you ignore my calls?” I demanded. Neither Laksh nor Ragini cared to answer. But they just apologized.

“I am sorry, Swara. Laksh and I were just exploring the city and we kinda lost the track of time. Its our fault completely.” Ragini said. Laksh was only too eager to agree with her.

“Yeah. I’m sorry too. It won’t happen again.” He said. I rolled my eyes. I knew Ragini was careless. But at least Laksh should have been a little careful.

“I am not upset because you were out till late. You should’ve called. I was really worried, you know. Its just that you’re still my baby sister. I don’t want you getting hurt, Ragini.” I said.

“Aww, Swara. I’m sorry!” Ragini exclaimed pulling me in a hug. Later she headed out followed by Laksh. Sanskar was left back.

“I told you there was nothing to worry about.” He smiled. I nodded.

“Yeah, well. Goodnight for now. We’ve to be up tomorrow early.” I said, referring to the promise I had made him. His smile turned brighter as he nodded.

“Yeah, Goodnight.” He said and walked out of my room. I crashed on my bed as he left and soon, drifted into a deep slumber. . .

Sanskar’s POV ~

“You did what?!” I exclaimed in pure horror as I stared at Laksh with eyes wide open. I could not believe what he had said. He kissed Ragini? How could he? I had never been so angry before.

“I did. I mean, yeah, I like her. So we just got carried away and it happened in the spur of the moment.” He reasoned. Spur of the moment. Really? Is this man out of his senses?

“How can you just –? Dammit Laksh. Are you even serious about her?” I asked.

“I don’t know. . .” He answered sheepishly.

“What do you mean?” I snapped dangerously. Seriously, screw the whole best friend thing. I was all ready to snap this guy’s head off.

“I mean. . .yeah. I’m pretty much serious about her. . .” He said timidly. I smacked my forehead. I knew, this was the reason for avoiding Swara’s calls. I also knew, that Ragini must have taken this whole kiss incident seriously.

“I don’t see that seriousness on your face. Do you have any idea what’s gonna happen if Ragini takes this all very seriously? Or worst. If Swara comes to know about this.” I asked. I wasn’t threatening him in anyway. But he had to get his facts straight.

“I don’t know, man. I like Ragini. I really do. I want to see where this takes us. But I’m just so confused right now.” He said, leaning down from the fencing of the balcony.

“Look, it’s okay if you like her. I don’t have any issues with that. But she’s like my baby sister, okay. You break her heart and I break your bones. Do you get that?” I asked. He smiled and nodded. Now the only thing we were worrying about was Swara.

“How are you planning to tell Swara?” I asked. Laksh, who seemed pretty relaxed, tensed up on her hearing her name again.

“I don’t know. I think, you should tell her. She’ll listen to you.” He said. I laughed sarcastically.

“I wonder why she will. She never has before. I think its better if you talk to her.” I said.

“Bhai. . .lagao meri sab log.”

“Woh toh already lag chuki hai. Just go and talk to her.” I said.

“Yeah. But after the wedding. I want to be seen alive in the wedding pictures.” He chuckled. For a moment, I imagined Swara’s worst reaction upon knowing about Laksh and Ragini. The scene did not please me at all. I sighed.

“You are in deep deep deep trouble, mate. . .”
