Swasan: Fix You (Episode 35)

~~The Slap~~

Swara’s pov ~~

I never felt so good before. The broken pieces of my life were slowly falling into place. I was relieved, when I heard what Ragini said about dad. He missed me. That only meant, he did love me.

I couldn’t be more grateful to God, for what I was blessed with in my life.

I sat in my room, folding my clothes and keeping them in their place. The door opened and closed at my back. I didn’t bother to look since I knew it was Sanskar coming in.

His strong arms wrapped around me from the back, as he rested his chin on my shoulder.

“Hi.” He said.

“Hi.” I replied.

“I don’t think I need to ask this since the answer is so clear in front of me, but still, did you like my surprise?” He asked.

I turned around, locking my arms around his neck.

“I did.” I said and planted my lips on his cheeks.

He smiled.
“I’m glad. You know, Ragini is really sweet. I like her, and I can see how much she loves you.” He said.

“I’m sure she likes you too.” I said.

“I haven’t said this before and I just can’t help but say this now.” He said. His eyes stared into mine lovingly. His arms holding me close to him. I waited for him to proceed.

“I want you to know how proud you’ve made me feel. You’re nothing, but goodness. You’ve a very big heart and I’m nothing before you. Trust me Swara, I’m the luckiest man in the world to have found my soul mate in you.” He said.

And I swear to God, I would’ve just fainted if he wasn’t holding me in his arms. His words melted me instantly, and I just felt like the luckiest girl alive.

“You said you’re nothing. But you don’t know how much you mean to me. Whatever you’ve done for me till today, I don’t think anyone could’ve done that. Who was I to you when we met? Nobody. Yet, I can’t thank you enough for the way you’ve always supported me, stood up for me, and helped me. You may consider yourself the luckiest for having me. But to me, I’m more lucky, because I’ve you. And trust me Sanky, you’re one in million.” I said.

That day, I had let out all my feelings for him. There was so much to say. So much of love to express, but I fell short of words.

“Okay, that just melted me…” He said, chuckling. I laughed and pulled him into a hug.

That moment was probably one of the most beautiful moments I’ve had with him.

**

The next day when the third round had ended, I was waiting down in the lobby for Sanskar to come back. As I came out of the elevator, I saw Kavita pacing around impatiently. She looked upset with something.

Ofcourse, I couldn’t ignore her and move on. We hadn’t been friends, but neither were we enemies. And thus my concern for her took me towards her.
She stopped abruptly as I called her.

“Hi.” I said.

“Hi.” She replied, forcing a smile.

“Uhm, are you okay?” I asked.

“Yeah, yeah! Ofcourse, I’m.” She said with no emotions whatsoever.

“Oh okay. Well, um, if you need to talk about something, I’m here, take care.” I said and gave her a quick wave before turning back to leave.

But her voice stopped me.

“Swara…” She said, loud and clear.

“Yeah?”

She sighed. Her eyes were fixed on me. She straightened herself and sighed, before walking over to me. She didn’t look worried anymore. She looked annoyed.

Standing a couple of feet away from me, she asked, “Why are you doing this?”

I couldn’t understand the meaning behind this question. What was I doing?

“I’m sorry, I didn’t get you.” I said. She closed her eyes for a moment and opened them again, sending death glares towards me.

“Don’t act so innocent, Swara. I know exactly what you are doing.” She said sternly.

“Excuse me. I think you should talk to me when you relax.” I said.

“No. Why should I relax? Specially, when you’ve snatched Sanskar from me.” She said raising her voice.

bl**dy hell. . .and I was disgusted by those words of hers.

“Snatched him? What, are you nuts? How could you even say such a thing?” I asked.

“You’ve taken him away from me, Swara. He’s…he’s someone else now! All thanks to you for killing the old Sanskar…my Sanskar and giving birth to this new one…” She said.

Her words made me doubt her feelings towards Sanskar. She had clearly stated that she was his ex girlfriend. Sanskar had even told me that they weren’t even serious about each other. ‘Then why would this kind of rage build inside her?’ I wondered.

I stood clueless in front of her.
“Oh don’t be so clueless, Swara. You exactly know whose the culprit here. Sanskar and I loved each other! We still do. You are the one stepping in between.” She said.

Wait…what? Sanskar loved Kavita?

“B-but Sanskar told me you weren’t even serious about each other…” I said.

She laughed dryly.
“We weren’t. Trust me. But as we spent more and more time together, our relationship wasn’t just about fun. I loved him. I still do.” She said.

“But he doesn’t love you. And I trust him more than myself, so don’t you dare turn us against each other.” I said, angrily. I couldn’t take this shit from her anymore.

“Really? And even if I do, what are you going to do? You’ve already done so much, Swara. But I’ll make him realize that he loves me and not you.” She said.

I could feel the anger boiling inside me. She was so irritating. Talking rubbish about my boyfriend in front of me. My hand automatically rose, and I could feel myself fuming as I slapped her hard across her face.

It took me a minute to understand, what I had actually done. I, who was someone calm and always in control, had lost my mind, and had ended up slapping a girl across her face.

But she deserved it. . .

She looked shock, but more than that, she looked angry. She composed herself, as a certain voice startled us suddenly.

I looked back, to see Sanskar standing a few feet away. He looked angry and hurt. Obviously, he had seen the whole drama.

Being the person he was, naturally, I expected him to come and stand by my side. But what he did next was completely unexpected by me.

He walked closer to us. His gaze firmly fixed on me. He was angry. Not even for a moment, had I thought that I was wrong.

“Why would you do that?” He asked.

“You should ask her, not me.” I said.

He snickered. “Answer me, Swara. Now.” That wasn’t even a request. It sounded more like an order.

“I won’t.” I replied. And only God knows why I did that. I should’ve told him everything by myself.

He turned to look at Kavita, who clutched her face. Somehow, I know it sounds cruel, but I thought she deserved it. Not that her pain gave me pleasure. But one should always get what they deserve.

“Are you okay?” Sanskar asked. I couldn’t help but choke at how concerned he sounded while talking to her. Like seriously, she just insulted me…

Kavita, being the b***c she always was, nodded dramatically.

“Both of you. I need to know what happened.” He said, shifting his gaze between her and me.

I rolled my eyes, folding my arms across my chest and looked away. I had no interest in justifying myself. Specially when I knew, I hadn’t done anything wrong.

“Kavita, are you going to tell me?” He asked. I pretended to look away, but from the corner of my eyes, I could see him being literally extra sugary towards Kavita.

“Sanskar, I didn’t do anything. I swear, I was just standing here, waiting for you guys. T-then Swara came. She looked upset. W-when I asked her the reason behind it, she slapped me..” She said.

My mouth hung wide open as I heard those words coming from her. I couldn’t believe that she had the guts to lie even after receiving a much deserved tight slap.

Sanskar looked at me as if he was looking at a different person altogether. That look in his eyes wasn’t good. It wasn’t the loving Sanskar. He was demanding an explanation.

“For God’s sake, Kavita stop with your lies!” I exclaimed. She had seriously pissed me off.

“Look at her, Sanskar. She’s still shouting at me! Even she knows, I’m innocent.” Kavita cried. Was it so easy for her to bring out those tears from her eyes? Do hell with her innocence.

“What? Are you stupid? First of all, you provoked me to do this. Secondly, unlike you, I would never lie. Be it Sanskar or anyone else.” I stated.

Sanskar looked at both of us, probably trying to figure out the situation. But the way, Kavita had filled his ears, there was no way, that I was going to be favoured.

“No, Sanskar! Don’t listen to her. You saw her slapping me! You can’t just be by her side even after what you just saw!” Kavita exclaimed.

“How dare you say such things to him. He knows me better than anyone else and he also that I haven’t done anything wrong. So just stay away from him!” I yelled.

“Just stop it!” Sanskar cut me off. His loud voice echoed in the lobby.

“That’s enough, Swara. I don’t want to hear any crap about Kavita.” He said, sending me a death glare.

I couldn’t believe my ears. He was on her side, defending her, when he was my boyfriend.

“What? But, Sanskar you don’t know what she –” I tried to argue, but he cut me off again.

“I don’t care. Its all your fault and you’ve to apologize her. Right now.” He said.

I looked at him blankly. This wasn’t my Sanskar talking. He was the same Sanskar, from the other night who fought with me.

“I said, say sorry.” He added sternly.

“I won’t. You can favour her all you want, but I won’t apologize. And since you even don’t want to hear the truth, I don’t think I need to justify myself anymore.” I said.

Tears welled up in my eyes. I felt so broken hearing his words. After seeing him support someone else instead of me.

I turned around to leave, but stopped, as I realized I hadn’t yet completed my words.

“You’re the most ugliest, fake b***c, I’ve ever met. f**k you.” I said to Kavita. Sanskar looked shocked as I had never cursed anyone in front of him.

I didn’t bother to listen to him, and just walked away. I could hear him shouting my name, but now, he had to apologize to me for treating me the way he did.
