Swasan: Fix You (Episode 21)

~~Swara vs my career ~~

Sanskar’s pov ~~

If there was anything, that I was dying to see, then it was to see Swara happy. I could feel the pain she felt everytime she cried. It was so painful to see her im such a condition. Only I knew how I had survived that night with her.

Everytime I saw tears in her eyes, I felt ache in my chest. Like someone had ripped my heart out of my body. Somehow, I had managed to hold back my tears while holding her. I had to be strong… for her, for us.

While she fell asleep by my side I couldn’t help but think how perfectly she fit into my arms. We were like two pieces of puzzle which perfectly fit each other. Swara completed me in every way and now I needed her.

The first thing I did in the morning was to call our band manager cum mentor and inform him about Swara and I. I thought it would be the best if he and the band mates knew about it.

The phone was ringing and I impatiently waited for him to pick up. When he did, he greeted me in an unpleasant manner. I knew he had read those articles about Swara and I and he was not happy with it.

“Sir, it’s me Sanskar.” I said.

“I know. What is it? I hope you know that the Global Music Fest starts in three days.” He said sternly.

I cleared my throat. “Yeah. Yes, ofcourse I know.” I replied. I simply didn’t have the guts to talk to him about Swara. He had been training me since I was ten. He was more of a fatherly figure to me. What if he didn’t like it? His opinion had always mattered me a lot, and I was worried, whether hd would approve my decision of bringing Swara on the Fest.

“Is there anything else you want to say? Or clarify, if I may say so.” He spoke when I didn’t say anything for a minute.

“Yes, uh.” I said as my voice cracked in the end. “I….uh… I want to talk to you about something….someone ….actually.” I said.

“Go on.” He replied casually. He knew what I wanted to say and yet he was forcing me to say it. I sighed and proceeded.

“So, there’s this girl, Swara. She’s uh… She’s special, you know. And she’s like going through a really rough patch right now. So I was wondering whether I could bring her along with me to England. I mean, only if you are not okay with it.” I said, running a hand through my hair.

A long silence prevailed after my explanation. I knew what his reaction was going to be. After what it seemed to be a very long time, he finally spoke up.

“Do you love her?” Was all that he asked.

“Yes, I do. And I know, that its all happening fast, but I just want to be there for her. She needs me and I–” I was cut of in middle of my sentence by him.

“Okay.” He said and for a moment I couldn’t believe what I had just heard.
‘Did he just say OKAY?’ I wondered.

“Okay?” I asked once more being sure of what I had just heard.

“Okay, I said. She can come. But remember your first priority, Sanskar. Don’t let anything affect your performance on stage. I’m sure you’ll keep that in mind. Apart from that, I’ve no issues. In fact, I’m quite surprised by how you are sounding. Seems like she’s one special girl.” He said.

I was smiling from ear to ear. I couldn’t have asked for more from him.
“She is. Thank you so much sir. I promise I won’t let it affect my performance. We’ll see you in London.” I said.

“Alright. See you then.” He said and hung up.

I pumped my fist in the air and did a little happy dance, which I’m sure, must’ve looked rather funny and weird. Unfortunately, it was interrupted by someone whistling from my back.

My face turned pale and deep red when I saw Swara standing by the door. She leaned against the door frame with a smug look on her face.

“I didn’t know that you are such a good dancer.” She said, narrowing her eyes.

I laughed nervously. “No… I’m just…nothing.” I muttered and tried to slip away, but she caught hold of my hand, stopping me there.

“Arrey! Ruko na, Batao. What happened?” She asked.

I shrugged. “Kuch nahi.”
“Acha. Toh yeh smile kyu?” She asked.

“Just like that! Can’t a person smile?” I asked trying to supress that smile. But I was failing miserably.

“Ofcourse he can. But mujhe bhi batao na, why are you smiling like that?” She asked, wrapping her arms around me.

“Arrey, kuch nahi hua. I just called my band manager to tell him that you’ll be coming for the fest, and he said he has no problem with it. That’s why I’m so happy.” I said and pecked her cheeks. Her mouth formed an O shape as she pulled back awkwardly.

“What? Aren’t you happy?” I asked, confused by her reaction.

“No, no its not that.” She said, quickly shaking her head.
“Its just that I don’t know. Like I don’t want to be a distraction for you. I want you to focus on your music and not on me. Its more important.” She said.

What was this girl? If it was any other girl in her place, she would’ve been happy. She would’ve been more than happy. But as I said, Swara was different; and she wanted me to focus more on my career. How do I convince her that she is equally important?

“You are equally important, my jaan. Besides I think I’ll be performing better with you cheering from the audience.” I said.

She rolled her eyes at me.
“Okay. Whatever. I gotta go now. Ashmit wants me to play ludo with him.” She said.

“Huh? With you? Hmm.. I see he like you more, now.” I muttered.

“Shut up. Come, play with us, na”

“Nah. I’m good. You kids play. I’ve some important calls to make.” I said.

She pouted and planted her lips on mine. As she held on the collar of my shirt, she left me wanting more. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pushed her against the wall. I moaned as she kissed me harder. This girl was definitely doing something with me.

We were interrupted by a loud scream from upstairs.
“Swara, come upstairs. I’m waiting.” That little monster shrieked.

I groaned and pulled back. She turned deep red.
“Who’s blushing now?” I asked.

“Very funny. I’ll see you later, yeah?” She said. I nodded as she smiled and left.

Now all I had to do was give my best in England. I didn’t want to let my band, my mentor and Swara down. I was sure that Swara’s presence in the concert hall was going to boost my performance.

Little did I know, that this trip would change my life…forever…
